Coleridge Community College Celebrates Praise from Ofsted Inspection

Coleridge Community College is proud to announce the positive outcome of its recent Ofsted inspection, which recognized the school’s continued commitment to maintaining high standards of education and personal development. The inspection, conducted in December last year, confirmed that the school has taken effective action to uphold the standards identified in its previous inspection, where it was rated ‘Good’.

Academic Excellence and Progress

The inspectors commended Coleridge Community College for the quality of its teaching and learning. They highlighted that “the curriculum is carefully thought out and effectively delivered” by staff who are “knowledgeable in their specialist areas.” Furthermore, the report noted that “the standards pupils achieve are rising,” including among students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. This recognition underscores the school’s dedication to ensuring all students reach their full potential.

A Holistic Approach to Education

Beyond academics, Coleridge Community College impressed inspectors with its strong extracurricular programme. The report emphasized that students benefit from a wide range of clubs, activities, and leadership opportunities that enrich their educational experience. It praised the school for being “as ambitious for pupils’ personal development as it is for their academic achievement” and for providing “helpful careers education” that prepares students for life beyond school.

Leadership and Community Support

Jon Datta, Chair of Governors at Coleridge Community College, expressed his pride in the inspection’s findings:

"We are delighted that the latest Ofsted inspection recognizes the effective action taken by Coleridge Community College to maintain high standards, particularly in supporting disadvantaged pupils and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This endorsement reflects the dedication of our staff and the strong leadership of our Principal, Matt Oughton, in fostering an environment where every student can thrive.”

Matt Oughton, Executive Principal at Coleridge Community College, echoed these sentiments:

"All of us at Coleridge Community College are very pleased with the inspectors’ report, which highlights the many improvements that have been made across the school and the excellent education students receive here. As we look to the future, we are excited to take forward the inspectors’ comments and ensure we are continuing to do everything we can to provide students with an enriching and ambitious education which equips them for success both at school and beyond.”

Ben Antell, Director of Secondary Academies at United Learning, added:

"The inspectors’ encouraging report is testament to the hard work of everyone across the school community in continuing to drive standards forward and provide students with a rich and well-rounded education. We are confident that, with this strong foundation in place and with the ongoing support of parents, staff, and governors, the school will be able to continue on its positive trajectory over the coming months and years.”

Coleridge Community College remains committed to its mission of fostering academic excellence and personal growth in every student. The school extends its gratitude to the entire community for their unwavering support and looks forward to building on this success to achieve even greater outcomes in the future.
