United Teaching

At Coleridge we are pleased to welcome people who want to train to teach their chosen subject at Secondary level. As part of United Learning we work with United Teaching to train teachers to a high standard. As you will see from the testimonies on this page, Beginner Teachers have found their experience of training at Coleridge a rewarding and excellent experience.

We do occasionally work with other local training organisations to offer placements to teachers on their first or second teaching practice.

If you would like more information about training to teach with us at Coleridge please contact Germaine Varney: germaine.varney@coleridgecc.org.uk

Early Career Framework

Already have QTS from a PGCE or school based Initial Teacher Training?

At Coleridge we work closely with United Teaching to ensure that our Early Career teachers have the support and challenge that they need. Early Career Teachers have a dedicated mentor and a weekly mentor meeting. They participate in regular professional learning tailored to teachers just entering their career, relating to pedagogy and subject specialism. In addition, all staff at Coleridge participate in regular deliberate practice of teaching strategies in small groups of teachers at all stages of their career.

The best thing about training to teach at Coleridge is the feeling of community and how all of the staff and students welcome you into the school.

Lucy, Trainee 2021

The best thing about training at Coleridge is the abundance of experience that I have acquired being a part of this diverse, inclusive and welcoming community - I feel I am prepared for life as a qualified teacher thanks to my experience here.

Amy, Trainee 2021

The best thing about being an Early Career Teacher at Coleridge is that everyone in the school is very supportive, and the workload is manageable. I consider that Coleridge Community Coleridge is the right place to start my teaching career.
